Uncle Rico and the Emergency Banana
Uncle Rico walked into the kitchen carrying a banana.
His nephew asked, “Uncle, why are you carrying that banana everywhere?”
Uncle Rico looked serious.
“Emergency.”
“Emergency what?”
“Emergency hunger.”
His nephew laughed. “You could just eat it.”
Uncle Rico shook his head.
“No. This banana is for emergency purposes only.”
“Okay… what counts as an emergency?”
Uncle Rico thought for a moment.
“When I’m hungry.”
“That’s not an emergency!”
Uncle Rico gasped.
“You don't understand. Hunger can become serious business.”
Five minutes later, Uncle Rico opened the refrigerator.
Nothing.
He checked the cabinets.
Nothing.
He looked at his nephew.
“It's happening.”
“What?”
“The emergency.”
He slowly pulled the banana from his pocket.
“Activate Plan B.”
His nephew stared.
“Uncle… you have a whole kitchen.”
Uncle Rico peeled the banana.
“Exactly.”
He took one bite and nodded proudly.
“Crisis averted.”
His nephew sighed.
Uncle Rico smiled.
“Remember, kid…”
He held up the banana.
“When life gives you bananas, don't slip.”
“…Uncle, that doesn't even make sense.”
“Neither does life.”
And he walked away eating his emergency banana.
