“Still awake?” she whispered.
He smirked. “Hard to sleep when you’re this close.”
She lightly nudged him, pretending to look away, but her fingers lingered for a second longer than usual. Their eyes met, tension building in the silence.
“You’re trouble,” he said softly.
“Maybe,” she teased, brushing a strand of hair back. “But you don’t seem to mind…”
The lights stayed dim as they moved closer, the moment fading into soft laughter and a door quietly closing.
