Ako si Ton. I am a 43-year-old BPO employee sa Cebu. Never married kasi pangit ng naging breakup namin ni ex and since then di nagtagal mga relationships ko with other women. Wala akong steady lovelife, just the standard meet and fuck siguro na walang patutungohan just to get me by when I need it.
Most of my friends are married and may mga anak na rin. Si Mark, bestfriend ko, settled down with Kriz mga 20 years ago and they have kids of their own - their eldest is my goddaughter, Kace.
Kace probably won the gene lottery. Growing up, she always had fair skin, great hair, maamong mga mata, she was never too fat or too thin, and was always shadowed and spoiled by her parents. As in binabantayan talaga. Which is how I became her godfather, her parents felt that someone who understands their thinking should become an alternative to their parenting. Parang totoo din naman: I was never a problem for my parents, I didn't drink too much, exercised, was quite the "study first" guy back in college and even got to the point where I'm one of the indispensables sa company.
My relationship with Kace started very wholesome. I was mostly present sa mga family gatherings nila. I was invited all of the time sa lahat ng occasions pero siyempre we have to decline sometimes kasi di naman tayo abusadong tao. I vibed well with the kids and got used to them growing up and was even a frequent babysitter kasi nga ako lang ang friend nila na di pa married. I was the best ninong Kace would have.
This is how it started. It was in 2022 after the lockdowns were lifted that I visited the family sa Butuan City (Mark worked with me in Cebu but settled there after they married). Mark said there was this private beach outside the city where I could use the fresh air and let off some steam. So we went, the place was good and kami lang ang nakabook dun for the day. I was having a beer when the kids asked me kung pwede ko ba daw silang bantayan sa beach and so I did. The other two kids were already in their swimming gear but Kace had to go and change pa sa isang room and when she came out she looked like this:

My thoughts were louder than everything that made noise on that beach. I had to pretend I didn't notice shit when passed behind me with those jugs. Fuck!

I played around with her a bit. Then I got everyone off sa dagat kasi it was lunch and mainit na. Still, I couldn't get over such a fine specimen of a young woman that was Kace.
After eating, Mark and I were having a beer while everyone else had something to do. Syempre I kept stealing glances at Kace, now wearing a tank top and denim shorts. Still flaming hot! I think she noticed me though. Then sabi ni Mark na Kace talked them over about where she should go to college in the next few months. Sabi niya Kace wants to go to Cebu Doctors' University to prep up for med. Good for her, I guess.
Mark shared this with me kasi he just landed this big-time contract sa Butuan and would be extremely busy for the next two years daw at least. Kriz will also be busy with the house and the two other kids na maiiwan sa Butuan. I felt na he wants me to be Kace's guardian while she's studying sa Cebu.
What the fuck are you doing, Mark? But, okay.
Me: Sure! Cebu Doc is mga fifteen to thirty minutes lang na drive sa apartment? I can go to Kace kung may emergency or if she needs anything.
I can sense na Kace was listening in on the conversation because she was slowly walking towards sa amin. She then said na nakakita na sila ng mama niya ng small apartment which she will be sharing with a co-ed when the semester starts. I pretended to nod approvingly.
Kace: Ninong, di ka ba malayo sa ******* ?
Me: Medyo malapit din siguro? Yun nga, mga fifteen to thirty minutes na drive.
Kace: That's nice, ninong. At least I know na malapit ka lang.
Mark: Bai, wag kang papaloko dito sa dalaga ko. Spoiled to. Hahaha!
Me: gulp
The way she smiled after that was like one of those cute animé girls na innocent looking. But damn, Kace was gonna spend her college years sa Cebu! My domain! Hmmm!
I spent two more days with the family at their house sa Butuan and kept seeing Kace and that body prancing around sa bahay while not wearing a bra. But I controlled myself. Mahirap na masipa palabas ng bahay ng best friend ko. After that, umuwi na ako ng Cebu to continue with my regular life.
I couldn't bring myself to corrupting Kace's innocence. She's my goddaughter after all.
But I'll be damned before some dog boy from Cebu is gonna get to her first!
I am not gonna be just her ninong anymore.
